because @notsuchasecret loves WataKyouHaba and there is like nothing for it and that is a challenge I accept

(also because I like making Bre yell at me)

It’s when Watari looks up, his ice cream in one hand and Kyoutani’s candy bar in the other, and spots Kyoutani grumbling at Yahaba a couple paces away and helping him rip open a bag gummy candies because Yahaba jammed his fingers during practice that day… that he realizes it.

They’re kind of dating each other.  All three of them.  He stares back down at Kyoutani’s candy bar and blinks a little stupidly at it until his ice cream starts melting and running down his fingers.

For @meowable-chan who wanted sappy Tanaka and then gave me three ship choices as if she doesn’t know exactly what happens in these situations.

Ryuunosuke had two more weeks before he could see any of them again. He was doing his best to make do, but with Akaashi and Iwaizumi in Tokyo and Yahaba busy captaining his team and working part-time and studying to get into a top university, things were getting a little strained. He had gotten by so far with texts and four-way skype conversations while they all did their homework too late into the night, but he was beginning to get antsy.

There was a box at the bottom of his closet that he kept sealed shut as often as he could. Normally he would have tried to wait, tried to make it at least another week before he succumbed to its siren call, but it had been over a month and he was desperate. So with a quick glance out the window to make sure Saeko’s car was still gone and a double-check that his bedroom door was still locked, Ryuunosuke pulled it out and tore off the lid.

The first thing he saw was a black hoodie, big and soft and faded. He tugged it over his head and closed his eyes as the smell of pine bodywash and something spicy washed over him. He pressed his nose into the collar and took a deep breath, imagining the fabric around his waist was a pair of strong arms instead.

Next was a pillow stolen from the guest bedroom, one that he changed the case on regularly. Today when he buried his face in it, it smelled like expensive cologne and sugary-sweetness. Ryuunosuke shook his head at the combination and pulled out the last piece in the box.

It was a blanket. Ryuunosuke knew that as soon as he was discovered with it he would be scolded, but he couldn’t help himself. It smelled like cinnamon and cherries and soap that was supposed to be unscented but still smelled like something to Ryuunosuke, like clean and laughter and running his fingers through soft, tousled curls the day Iwaizumi graduated, while they all watched the stars together…

On the bed, his laptop started chiming with the sound of an incoming call. Ryuunosuke took a moment to set up a little nest for himself before he clicked the accept button and was greeted with the sight of Yahaba, looking stressed but happy, and Iwaizumi, half a granola bar hanging out of his mouth while he wrote something down. A moment later, a third screen popped up, and Akaashi smiled sleepily at them. Then he frowned.

“I’d wondered where that had gone,” he said. Ryuunosuke grinned sheepishly.

“It was just sitting out?” he offered. Iwaizumi looked up then, eyes narrowing.

“On my bed,” Akaashi replied. “Because it’s my blanket.”

“Sorry,” Ryuunosuke muttered. He looked down at his lap, where he had the pillow with Yahaba’s case on it. He heard a sigh, something sad and warm.

“Ryuu.” He looked up to see Iwaizumi smiling softly at him. “I’m sorry it’s been so hard,” he said. Ryuunosuke shook his head.

“It’s fine,” he said. “It’s not like it’s anyone’s fault. You’ve all been working so hard an’ all.”

“That doesn’t mean it isn’t hard,” Yahaba said. “It’s hard on all of us.”

“Yeah, but none of you are acting like homesick kids,” Ryuunosuke muttered.

“I wouldn’t be too sure of that,” Iwaizumi said. Ryuunosuke glanced at him questioningly. “I know for a fact that Keiji’s got one of your shirts. He wears it to bed.”

“Well, Shigeru has one of Hajime’s jackets,” Akaashi shot back.

“I caught Hajime asking Bokuto-san to steal some of Keiji’s shampoo,” Yahaba added. “And for your information, Hajime gave me that jacket.”

“Because you wouldn’t stop whining!” Iwaizumi cried. “You kept pouting and looking at me with those puppy dog eyes, and it wasn’t fair! All three of you keep stealing all my sweaters!”

“They smell nice,” Akaashi mumbled. Ryuunosuke couldn’t help it. He threw his head back and laughed.

“S-sorry,” he gasped, trying to get ahold of himself. When he finally peeled his eyes open, he saw three identical expressions of shock looking back at him. “What?”

Iwaizumi was the first to break the silence, flushing and looking away. “N-nothing,” he muttered. “Anyway, you shouldn’t feel bad about missing us. We all miss each other.”

“Just promise not to steal any more of my blankets,” Akaashi added. “I had to borrow one from Bokuto-san. It smelled like his feet.”

“Sorry,” Ryuunosuke said, and from the glint in Akaashi’s eyes, he knew none of them believed him. “I love you guys,” he said. And the warmth in his chest when they all returned the sentiment was enough to make the next two weeks bearable.

moami:

Today is a wonderful person’s birthday. I wish you a strong, inspired and happy new year of life, dear @hachidorikun – I think my private message said enough, but: Don’t ever forget your own luminosity. This drabble is all for you and I think you’ll remember our talk about it. Keep gleaming.

“Of all the things you could have lied to me about – “

“I’m sorry,” Kentarou says. Or, well, he tries to, because Shigeru is having none of that. A hand slams into Kentarou’s field of vision, and even if it doesn’t touch him, Shigeru’s expression paints such a clear picture of calm before the storm that Kentarou snaps his mouth shut immediately.

“I need you to shut up. Right now. I’m so angry, I – this is – oh my god, you make me lose my words. This is terrible.”

Kentarou looks at the floor. His claws are still out, and he blushes all over his face before roughly pushing them underneath his thighs to sit on them.

Shigeru narrows his eyes. “If you tear my sheets, I’m going to have a nervous breakdown.”

“I’m not gonna tear anything. Look, I’m really sorry – “

“Of,” Shigeru presses out, the word almost a growl between his teeth, and the irony of that thought makes Kentarou swallow a laugh, “all. The. Things. I would have understood if you hadn’t told me about what an absolute bloody bastard your dad is, okay, I really get that one, and I’m still eternally grateful and happy that you told me so we could do something. But still, I want to yell at you. A lot.”

Kentarou gives up then. He moves off the bed, turning to make his way over to Shigeru’s window where he’d entered half an hour ago. “Okay. That’s that, then.” It hurts more than the bullet (oh wait, plural, bullets) wedged between his ribs. He’s used to that. Seeing how your boyfriend screams in horror when you climb into his window at night in your quote real form unquote, that’s something else. A bit like swallowing acid while hanging upside down from the ceiling of a hunter’s basement (Kentarou’s Friday nights are never ordinary, okay, so he’s got that going for him and that’s nice. Or life-threatening, anyways, it’s not boring).

“Where do you think you’re going?” Shigeru is by his side, eyes softened from dark anger to something bright that Kentarou doesn’t deserve. He flinches when Shigeru reaches out, but the touch against his jaw isn’t a slap.

“Did you think I was – “ Shigeru says, voice cracking on gentleness, and Kentarou can’t.

“I’m not gonna bother you anymore.” He takes a deep breath. Shigeru’s fingers cradle his cheek then, thumb tracing Kentarou’s mouth where he’d kissed it just yesterday. This is the last time he gets to feel it. There’s no boyfriend anymore, just Shigeru who has a normal life and Kentarou who’s always going to protect him in secret.

“I can see your brain running,” Shigeru whispers. He’s close, and leans in even more, both hands reaching now to push Kentarou’s lower lip down a bit. The moon is bright outside, pale and harsh, and there’s no chance for Shigeru to miss the sharp fangs sliding out of Kentarou’s mouth. His claws are stuck where he’d slammed them into his pockets. “Ken.” Shigeru tugs at his wrist. “Ken, look at me.”

“I get it.” Kentarou hates himself for closing his eyes to breathe in Shigeru’s scent. This is home. Shigeru is everything good he’s ever had, the only precious thing he hadn’t ruined until now. Shit. “You’re scared, I get it, I’m a monst-”

“Cut me some slack here.” Shigeru sighs, annoyance swaying in his voice before he tugs Kentarou’s hand free and takes it into his own. “I’m a modern and tolerant man, but you bursting into my room at fuck o’clock with blood all over you and oh, the small detail of you having been a pony-sized wolf until you turned back into my boyfriend, that would scare anyone.”

“It’s not my blood,” Kentarou says, then hesitates. He doesn’t want to lie anymore. “Mostly. I heal fast, I practically can’t die, and the few bullets that – “

Shigeru makes a sound like someone punched his lungs. “See! You keep doing that, hiding things from me because you want to protect me! Ugh.” He pinches Kentarou’s cheek until he opens his eyes, and then Shigeru kisses him, makes him breathless and growling in his throat. Kentarou swallows when Shigeru pulls back, dares to rest a clawed hand on Shigeru’s hip, so careful that he almost doesn’t touch him. “You’re not running away. Yet. Are we still together?”

“I’m still angry at you – oh don’t make those puppy eyes, and oh my god! Now that I know what you are, they’re actual puppy eyes, that’s the best irony of my life. I know so many dog jokes. Anyways. I’m angry because you didn’t tell me, because you didn’t trust me.” Shigeru pulls him to the bed, and Kentarou follows fluidly, immediately tucking Shigeru into his arms so he can nuzzles his neck, humming happiness against his skin. “Can’t believe you still like me.”

“Not like,” Shigeru corrects, leans back into his embrace with a smile playing around his lips. “I love you, okay, memorize that. And why wouldn’t I? Ken, you treat yourself like you’re a bad person. You thought I’d leave you after you told me about your dad, even if he was the guilty one.”

“That’s because he was the monster in that case. This time, it’s me.”

Shigeru is silent for a long time after that. When Kentarou slides his chin onto his shoulder, pushing it forward to look at his face, Shigeru’s eyes are wet.

“Hey,” Kentarou says. “Hey. Shi, don’t, don’t cry.”

“You’re not a monster.” Shigeru shifts, and then he’s flipping around in Kentarou’s arms and catapults himself on top of Kentarou, collapsing both of them on the bed. Kentarou doesn’t tell him that he’s pressing on the bullet between Kentarou’s ribs (it’s gonna heal), so he just cups a hand around Shigeru’s neck. “Okay. I’m just glad that you… still, even after knowing.”

“Idiot.” There are tears dripping into Kentarou’s neck, but nobody mentions it. “I told you, I don’t ‘still’ like you. I love you, not ‘still’ but ‘since’ and then indefinitely. And now you’re gonna let me look at those wounds or I’m gonna put another one into your leg, do you understand that?”

Kentarou kisses him on the crown of his head, closes his eyes. “Yeah. ‘course.”

KyouHaba Week: Day 3 ~ Sport Swap prompt

Rugby au!!!! Kyoutani is a tank and will tackle anything that moves even if they’re twice his size. Yahaba somehow manages to make it through an entire game without messing up his hair. In hindsight white and teal was an awful colour decision for a rugby team.

Also, this is my contribution to Kyouhaba week! (technically tomorrows prompt: domestic/ date). I wish I would do more, but my life’s a bit crazy so this’ll do for now! 🙂

Kyouhaba Week Day 2 –

magic/fantasy // training camp

AU where Kyoutani finds a dragon caught in a trap and decides to free it before it can be killed. Yahaba follows him out of a life debt (despite Kyoutani’s objections) and ends up becoming very, very protective of his grouchy human.

Notes on Dragon!Yahaba:

  • His scales are a light grey, with caramel-coloured camouflage splotches on his back and legs. (When he shifts to a human form, he is inconsistent on if his hair ends up silver, brown, or a mix of the two.)
  • He’s about twice the size of a large horse and can’t fly. Instead he is built for running very fast for long distances and ambush hunting. His tail is twice the length of his body and fully prehensile, used for balance and tree climbing.
  • He can’t breathe fire, but he is extremely venomous, and his bite is enough to kill dragons much larger than himself by coagulating the blood in their veins. The skin on his neck flattens into a cobra-like hood when he is threatened or trying to intimidate.
  • He never attempted to make a human form before meeting Kyoutani, and frankly he is terrible at it and never fully manages to hide his dragon features.

Seijou families headcanons

friskavris:

  • The Iwaizumis moved in the house
next the Oikawas a few months before Hajime’s birth and the
    mothers became pregnancy friends.
  • Oikawa’s sister, Nanami, 12 years
older than him, and Hanamaki’s, Sakura, were best friends during
both middle and high school. The Hanamakis moved in another part of
the town when Takahiro was five, so he didn’t attend the same school
    as Hajime and Tooru.
  • When Tooru and Hajime were little
Nanami and Sakura had fun putting make up on them and dressing them
    with feminine clothes.
  • Because of this, when Tooru and
Hajime met Makki during their first year of high school they weren’t
    exactly friendly.
  • Poor Makki couldn’t understand
    why.
  • Oikawa calls his sister Nananee
    since he was little.
  • Nanami married her high school
boyfriend, the one Tooru threatened at the age of five because he
thought he was gonna steal his sister.
  • Nanami and Tooru always go
shopping together. They once dragged Iwaizumi with them and it was
the worst experience in his life.
  • Everyone in the Iwaizumi and
Oikawa families makes bet on when Tooru and Hajime will get
    together.
  • Matsukawa is the middle child and
together with the older, Shotarou, he used to prank his little
    brother, Ryo.
  • Actually he is the one who taught
    Makki how to prank people.
  • He tried to help Makki pranking
Sakura but they failed miserabily. Cannot fuck with her.
  • Ryo is a shy boy and was bullied
at school. Bad move, bullies. They found two angry 190cm guys
waiting for them at the exit of school. Ryo was never bullied again
    in his life.
  • During high school, Ryo punched a
classmate because he called Issei a “disgusting faggot” after
seeing him with Hanamaki. If you hurt one of the Matsukawa brothers,
be ready to be hurt from the other two.
  • The reason Makki’s hair is so
short is because he asked Sakura to cut it when he was in his third
year of middle school. She apologized for like two hours after that,
but Takahiro liked that haircut and kept it.
  • Iwaizumi’s mom had a natural
abortion when Hajime was nine and she suffered from depression
    because of this.
  • Anyway, when she discovered she
was pregnant again, seven years later, she and her husband decided
to kept the baby even if they were not so young anymore and it could
have been dangerous for both her and the baby.
  • So Iwaizumi became the older
brother of a beautiful little girl at the age of 17.
  • They named her Cho because it was
the name Hajime would have liked when he was 9, since it means
    “butterfly”.
  • He did not cry at all. No, those
    weren’t tears, Shittykawa, shut up.
  • Iwaizumi was scared of holding her
because he thought he could hurt her.
  • He asked Matsukawa for advice
since he was the only older brother he knew, but he wasn’t that
helpful since he was six when Ryo was born.
  • Unexpectedly, help came from
Kyoutani, who has a six-year-old sister, Mako.
  • He is the perfect older brother.
That kind of older brother who makes her sister put make up on him,
plays with her dolls and braids her hair because the only thing that
matters is to make her happy.
  • He even lets her win at arm
    wrestling.
  • Kyoutani is very protective of his
sister, because their parents divorced when she was one year old and
she basically grew up without a father.
  • They meet their father once in a
while, since he moved to Tokyo. Everytime they meet, he takes them
at the park to play volleyball or to see a match. Mako’s a little
    volleyball fanatic too.
  • Yahaba has an older brother, Taro,
who is a sassmaster and basically the biggest kyouhaba shipper.
  • “I think I’m gay” “I think
that too, little bro” “I may have a crush on Kyoutani” “Well,
no shit, Shigeru” “You should help me, you’re my brother”
“Last time I came seeing your match he was staring at your ass
like it was made of gold, I don’t know what else you need, I cannot
confess for you” “You are not helpful at all” “Always doing
    my best”
  • Kindaichi is an only child and
he’s a bit envious of his teammates.
  • No problem, anyway, because Sakura
and Nanami decided to adopt him.
  • Kindaichi’s mom hugged Iwaizumi
the first time she met him because “you’re such a nice boy,
Yuutarou is always talking about you”. Poor Kindaichi, he was so
red everyone thought he was going to autocombuste.
  • Both Kindaichi’s parents love
cooking and they always prepare something special for the team. They know everyone’s favourite food.
  • Kunimi decided not to go to his
friend’s house too often because he was gaining a bit too much
    weight.
  • Kindaichi’s father treats him like another son.
  • Kunimi has a younger sister,
Emiko, whose biggest problem is how quiet and lethargic her brother
    is.
  • Really, it’s almost like she is
the older sister, she has some serious mom skills and is the
most mature 13-year-old you could meet in Miyagi
  • Watari is also an only child but
he doesn’t suffer from this, since he has tons of cousins.
  • He is the oldest cousin and often
babysits the others, he’s very good with children and kids
    absolutely love him.
  • He
often looks after Mako or Ryo and the latter loves him even thought
    he’s going through his “I’m not a baby anymore I don’t need a
    babysitter” fase.

Kyouhaba week Day 1: Smiling/hands

Kyoutani has not yet grasped the concept of high fives and just tenderly placed his palm against Yahaba’s. Who did not know how to end a high five like that, leading to them standing with their hands gently pressed against each other for a good five minutes while their senpais lost it.
